Basic Remodeling In Temecula

Basic Remodel: Simpler and More Affordable but Still Comprehensive

Whether you want basic upgrades to an old pool or old hot tub spa, the remodel process will be very similar. Spas are obviously smaller in size, so the remodel itself is usually faster and less complex. The process described below generally applies to both inground pools and inground spas. If you have specific questions about basic pool or spa remodeling, contact us today.

All basic remodels begin with us listening to you–your needs, your ideas and your creative vision–to help us determine the type of work involved and actual project scope. We expect a lot of very smart questions and welcome the opportunity to answer each one.

Basic Leak Detection

Remodeling a pool that’s slowly leaking water is a surefire way to waste money and ruin the joy of renovating. That’s why, prior to performing any cosmetic upgrades, we’ll turn off your old pool’s water supply for five days to see if water is being lost. If not, we’ll proceed as planned. If so, we’ll recommend a professional leak detection company to come in and find the leak. We can roll the detection cost into your remodel estimate or you can pay the leak professional directly, whichever you prefer.

Plaster Chipping

When you’re resurfacing, replastering or renovating a pool, sandblasting sounds like it a real timesaver. But sandblasting can make walls so slick and smooth that new plaster doesn’t stick. To help new material adhere properly for years to come, Granite Creek will chip, rather than sandblast, your old plaster away.

Flashing (Option)

Removing old plaster during a remodel exposes the old steel bars beneath. But cutting out the exposed steel would actually weaken the structure. So instead, steel is ‘flashed’ or covered with a light protective layer of concrete to help restore its strength. Flashing is not part of our standard bid package. However, we can arrange this popular option for you with one of our preferred concrete application companies.

Lighting Install

Your Granite Creek remodel includes the installation of new lights and electrical cords. If your old cords can’t be removed from the conduit, you have the option of letting us install brand new, energy efficient LED lighting. LEDs not only enhance the beauty of your pool with added crispness and clarity, their lower voltage requirement (12v vs. 120v coming to the water) also improves safety in and around the pool.

Upgraded Jets

When we remodel your existing pool or spa, we will install special new fittings on the jets and return lines that let you manually direct the water flow for added comfort and control. Our upgraded fittings are also flush with the walls. So jets not only look and perform better, there’s no unwanted plastic end sticking out to poke your users.

Safety Drain Covers

To protect users and comply with government safety mandates, Granite Pool and Spa remodels include all appropriate drain splitting and drain covering practices.

Tile Installation

Glass tile has been problematic in many installations, creating maintenance and performance issues we want our homeowners to avoid. That’s why we neither use nor recommend glass tile products. As our customer, you’ll have access to hundreds of more desirable porcelain and ceramic tile designs, which we believe offer the durability and value you ultimately want.

Inspection, Cleaning and Finish

To eliminate any danger from exposed metal or steel, our team will carefully inspect all interior surfaces prior to applying your new plaster or pebble finish. They will also power wash and thoroughly vacuum the entire area to ensure proper adherence of the new finishing material. This extra attention to detail helps prevent future maintenance and longevity issues.
